SCHOOL-DAYS CULTURE

22 days. 200 won. A little school-days story.

Did you know? Tutu day marked a couple’s 22nd day together. It was once a trend among some Korean middle and high school students for friends to give the couple 200 won, or for couples to collect small contributions from friends.

Think of it as a school-days memory, not a custom every Korean follows today. It varied by school and generation. Giving money was not a rule, and no one should feel pressured to join in.
